RECREATION & CELEBRATION

DECEMBER EVENTS 2022

In appreciation of residents Joan, Mary, and Eleonor, who begin a new chapter, a pizza party was held in early December. On Winter Solstice, a gathering took place to welcome our 2022 recent residents Jackie, Kathy, Nancy Ce, Summer, and Taylar, followed by dancing for those who stayed to cleanup (photos by Sandra). On Christmas, Del, Jill, Karen, Kathy, and Marvel prepared farolitos (traditional New Mexico lanterns, constructed of paper bags, sand, and candles, which are customarily used to light the way of the Holy Family at Christmas as well as for sacred and social events). The group then created an evening farolito walk in the heart of the community.

JOHN & KAREN'S ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

In mid-August 2022 on their 50th anniversary, John and Karen invited the community to join them in a re-creation of their wedding brunch. Much laughter, celebration, and good food was enjoyed by all who attended.

SENDOFF FOR DICK AT COFFEE HOUR

Sand River's first March 2022 Coffee Hour doubled as a sendoff to Dick who departed the next morning for the East Coast to live closer to family.
