A vision for a sustainable world is expressed in diverse ways at Sand River, from efforts as basic as water harvesting, composting, and organic gardening, to more complex technologies like solar collection and electric cars. In 2012, our former car-sharing group PV2EV (photovoltaics to electric vehicles) conducted an experiment that involved the carbon-reducing strategy of collectively leasing and operating an electric car that was powered by the solar array on our common house.
