SANDY KING

Picture
In 2001, Sandy and her late husband Jay walked the Camino de Santiago for a retirement celebration—62 days of trekking along a 1000-year-old pilgrimage route that straddles northern Spain. Moving at human speed afforded them the leisure to “be here now” after a combined 125 years of living and 50 years of teaching writing-intensive English courses in public education. The journey’s amalgam of contemplation, observation, and involvement was usually a welcome one—even in all-day slogs through rain and mud.  Carrying all of their necessary possessions in 13-pound backpacks proved to be a wonderful “lightening up.”

The dream that was to become Sand River drew Sandy and Jay to Santa Fe, the astonishing ‘"City Different,” where they bought a home and became a part of the community’s visioning group.

Sandy moved into Sand River five years after construction was completed.  She delights in the conscious elders who have found their way here and loves the earth-friendly, accessible design of her condo.
