PRISCILLA NEWCOMER |
Priscilla was delighted to find Sand River Cohousing’s website in February of 2024. She was immediately drawn to the community’s architecture, landscape, and conservation practices. Further investigation confirmed her initial response and she became a resident in early May of that year.
Working with Sand River’s diverse and interesting people to maintain the landscape and support the community adds purpose to her daily life. Priscilla rarely misses an opportunity to participate in the social events with delicious meals enhanced by engaging conversation. Her family agrees that Sand River is exactly the right match for her. Prior to making Santa Fe her home, Priscilla lived for two decades in a rural West Virginia HOA in order to be near her growing family on the East Coast. She lived her early adult years in the Greater Chicago area where she performed, trained, achieved a BA in psychology and dance/theater. While raising her family, Priscilla pursued training to enhance positions, such as instructor, curriculum development, arts administration, and drug/alcohol education. Priscilla's experience of growing up on a farm in a rural community outside Rio, Illinois during World War II has sustained her throughout her life. It’s been a journey of personal growth she has joyfully shared — with youth in particular — through dance and creative self-expression. While her professional life has been dedicated to serving through education, social well being, and the arts, her highest priority has always been family. Priscilla feels the love for family and friends — as well as the natural living world — are central to maintaining a balanced life. |
